Japlanning - So it Happened!! - First Update

As i type this i am currently sat in my second hostel of the trip, in Kyoto....

A little over a year ago i started thinking about the money i had in my savings account and what i wanted to do with it, i dont want a car in London so my next natural thought was, why not go traveling, at 28 i`m a little old to be starting....if you go by the whole "gap year thing" but you`re never too old to start anything!! Mental note to myself, please remember this!!

Being me, i procrastinated about it for months, and months till one morning i woke up at home in Yorkshire (I was back for easter to see my mum and Northern friends!) and i just booked the flights, done, dusted. that was it, no going back....

Dont get me wrong, i wasn't scared of coming here, i wasn't scared of the flight, i wasn't scared of being on my own for 3 weeks, i can take all that in my stride. But I was terrified of spending this nice cushion of money i had saved and saved.... i was terrified of not having any savings after my trip! But the more i thought about it, the more i realised that i would miss out on so much if i sat on this money, as my Dad always said, you can't take it with you when you die!

So once i booked the flights, i had to figure out where i was going, i knew i wanted to go to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima and somewhere in there i wanted to go on a Bullet train!

Simple plan but it worked!!

So i booked 5 hostels, one in each place i visit. I`m hitting Tokyo twice, once on the way in and once on the way out.

I`ll do another post with my itinerary once i`ve completed my trip and where i actually visited...but so far 8 days into my trip, i`ve seen everything i wanted, and more!!

For now this is me saying, if you want it, go for it!! Life is too short, many of us have learned this the hard way, so if it makes you happy do it, dont worry about what anyone else thinks, or says, this is your life! and you are big enough and strong enough to go do anything if you put your mind to it!!

Keep it Positive

Protein!!

So I took a little journey into a territory I don't really know that much about....Supplements!!

Having read some (lots) of different blogs, articles and links from Pinterest....

I realised that I should maybe try some supplements to help me on my slimming down journey.

So the ones that I have decided to try are:

Vitamin D - The Sunshine Vitamin!! This Coupled with Calcium can help support fat loss.
Calcium - Calcium is an essential mineral, this can help with fat loss and a lack of this can suppress the hormone called Calcitiol which is responsible for reducing fat burning.
Omega 3 - This is really great for your over all heath and has also been shown to stimulate fat burning.
CLA - this is an Omega 6 Fatty Acid, other Omega 6 fatty acids are known for not being very good for you. CLA can help support fat loss while promoting muscle growth.
Green Tea Extract - Its main active ingredient is Polyphenol Epigallocatechin Gallate. This helps increase the metabolic rate and fat burning.
Protein - This is really great for helping muscles repair after a work out, the Protein I have decided to get is Cookies and Cream Flavour from My Protein.com. It is the Diet Whey as I don't really want to start bulking up, I need to lose a few pounds before I can think about real heavy weight training.

Once they've all turned up and I've been taking them for a while I'll post again about how I'm finding them.

Keep it positive

FitBit

For my Birthday (which is in January by the way) my mum told me she wanted to get me something I'd been after for a while, but she'd seen there was a new one coming out so she didn't want me thinking she hadn't bought me a present when it wasn't here in time for my birthday.

I'm not one for flashing expensive presents, I've always got what ever I wanted myself (insert Destiny's Child, Independent Woman here). *sassy*

So eventually, as I didn't have a clue what she was going on about buying me, I figured out she meant a smart watch, I was in two minds, one, as I said not one for expensive presents and two, I would love the motivation.

I've always been active, I do love exercise, I've always done different classes, running, the gym. but, and I'm very aware of this, my eating habits aren't exactly angelic.
I used to be a super fussy eater, but I hated it, I felt like a child, immature; so when I started to like more and more food it was like the world opened up to me!
I don't eat well all the time, but I certainly eat better than I ever used to. After putting on weight, I knew I need something to help me track my calorie output, and to get an idea on how much I actually move about.

I LOVE MY FITBIT!!!!!!!

I have the Fitbit charge HR, I wear it constantly!!
I would recommend them for anyone who's thinking about getting a smart watch. They're discrete, easy to use and super helpful!!

If I know I'm no where near my step goal for the day, it forces me to walk home rather than get the bus. Its also got challenges on the App which you can join with friends who have also got a Fitbit, This really pushes me to go over my step goal for the day!!
